Emily’s Jewelry Box

A few months ago our granddaughter asked if I could build a Jewelry Box.  I said sure and offered to build one for her. Over the years I have collected lots of plans, but have never built a really nice box.  Searching my collection of plans, I found a plan that I thought would be something I could accomplish. The plan was in a book called “Box Making Basics” by David M. Freedman.   Being a novice, I thought I would build a prototype so that I could practice the cuts and assembly on some less expensive material than what I would finally use for Emily’s Jewelry Box. I chose Poplar for the prototype. I can say it was a good idea to do this as I made some of the cuts more than once. Once I was comfortable, I started on the real thing, choosing Cherry and Black Walnut as the woods I would use.

I am now in the process of putting a red felt liner in the bottom of the boxes and the tray.  After doing that I will put the final finish on them and I will be done!
